Hi Hoakley — thanks for the guide. Do you suggest waiting to do the the update? Firmware updates should be entirely non-destructive. Just before the High Sierra upgrade, I updated the firmware in my array, as well as the Utility. If you do this using the latest version of the Utility, it should be quick and simple.
Once the firmware has been updated, you need to shut the array down and start it back up again, for the new firmware to be brought into use.
